Great phone packed with features.

Pros: So many features.....big screen, nice camera, mp3 support...too many to list.
Cons: Getting used to the navigation stick, I have a tendancy of clicking it when pushing "up." Might be an isolated problem but the location of it in relation to my hands make it slightly awkward.

Summary: I'm not a phone geek in any way and might be amateur at best when it comes to all these features that they have in phones nowadays, but the nokia N73 blew me away.
I read the review on this site and some of the cons listed might have been a bit nitpicky. I mean if you want quick response times and stuff then get a computer. For all the features they packed into a phone, I'm surprised how well it responds. The operating system is Symbian 9.1 which is the newer version of the software. It is quicker than old one's obviously so I don't know why they want it quicker when it's already an upgrade? The only problem I had was with the location of the navigation stick...it's just too low in my opinion. Every now and then when I try to navigate up, I end up clicking the stick by accident. Wifi right now is not a big deal for me, I guess it can come in handy when you want to get onto the net but if I wanted to surf and things like that, I would rather be on the computer. I think this is a 50/50 feature since maybe half of the people would probably want it and the other half probably won't even care. Of course I say that now but at this point, I just see no point in wifi unless somebody can enighten me on the purpose of wifi on the phone. The camera turns on a couple of seconds after you pulled the cover but if you are going to gripe about that then you should do the same with regular digital cameras, they do take a couple of seconds to load when you switch it on ya know =)
Now, the pros are just too many to list so I'll jump to the one's that stuck out to me. The screen is huge and really nice. The camera works pretty good for phone, and at 3.2 megapixals with a Zeiss lens, you can't really go wrong. The miniSD card is hot swappable and with capacity at 2 gigs is really decent for fitting a good library of mp3's, taking pictures/videos, etc. Oh, did I say it plays mp3's? It does and it even comes with headphones but the controller on the headphones only controls the volume, I guess you can say that is a con. I haven't played around with this feature too much but there is a button you can press that will direct you to the 5 things that you use the most instead of having to find it in the different menus, I thought that was cool. I can't forget to mention the office viewing ability and e-mail support. Battery life is really good, my friend has an N80 and he said the battery lasts a day maybe, the battery has lasted me a good 3 days with all the tinkering that I've been doing and with room to spare!!!! Lastly, since this is a quadband phone, it's pretty much usable anywhere in the world.
I would actually rate this an 8.5, I can't give it a 9 or a 10 since nothing is perfect. A 9 would definitely be something in the range that the cnet reviewer would give this phone but lacking the features they listed. Of course, everybody is different so my experience might be a bad one for somebody else, the best I can say is if you are interested in this phone, then just like any product, take a leap of faith and try it out. There is a guy who did a more in depth review on the phone and compared it against similar phones with other makers....it's a really good read, just google it. I hope this review helps.

Summary: Well I used to own a Song k750i and wanted to upgrade so looked at the sony K800i and the nokia N73.
After much thought I upgaded to the Nokia N73 24 hours ago and I have to admit that I really regret not going for the Sony k800i.
The reason is the n73 looks great, has a great camera but freezes or crashes. The software is really slow and then for no reason it will freeze and you have to remove the battery to get it to rest. Then for some reason when you are using the bluetooth with a car kit it will just switch off on its own.
Nokia have made a great quality phone but I think they have cut some big corners with the software quality. This is not what I expect from Nokia
Am off to my mobile prvovider to try and get the Sony k800i

Summary: The Nokia N73 is an excellent phone. I must give credits to them. But i dont understand why the fonts are so small compared to other models & brands. It's unbelievable that the N73 with such a large display screen, Nokia can have such small fonts for sms which is one of the main feature that is frequently used by phone users. This is really really very disappointed.
You almost need a magnifying glass to help u out when writing a sms.
Hopefully Nokia will come out with a software for users to upgrade their handset N73 and i'm sure a lot of users will save lots of money on buying magnifying glasses

Brilliant phone that has reached Excellence!

Pros: The thing that stuck out most to me is the amazing camera 3.2 megapixel camera. The photos are vivid and very clear and sharp.
The battery life is excellent!
The front camera is very handy, I use it as a mirror.
The design is very stylish.
Cons: The only thing that bugs me, although it's such a tiny thing is this:
The manufacturers should have put the NOkia label in between the screen and the keypad, and left the N73 in the top left corner. They do that in later models.

Summary: The Nokia N73 is a great phone, that meets the standars of most human beings. Human beings that aren't picky about every little thing, and try to bring out the smallest negative in a phone. I've been reading through most reviews and I've been seeing that the one big con that every review has is the "Sluggish Performance". Let us remind ourselves that the Nokia N73 is a MOBILE PHONE, not the latest computer. Based on the number of applications jammed into the device and the fact that it is a smart phone, I'd think the speed was perfect. Now let me tell the people that are thinking to buy this device and are a little scared of the slow speed on it. The slow speed that all the reviews are writing about is waiting half a second for an application to start up. However the menus open at the touch of the key. Now that I addressed that point let me go on to the next one.
The overall design of the device is great- a normal, yet stylish candybar look, especially with the curves on the edges of the phone. I like the color schemes the phone is offered in, I personally have the Silver/Plum version. The gorgeous screen is the highlight of the overall design, the colors are beautiful and bright. The keypad isn't so cramped as everyone says. I don't have trouble texting with it. I like the silver keys: Menu, Edit, Multimedia, Clear, surrounding the numerical keys, it gives it an elegant look. There's no extra space to expand the keypad as everyone says, there has to be some space left so the device won't be cluttered. The navigation stick is great, personally I've never saw a phone with a joystick. It's stylish and it saves space on the keypad. Don't worry, it won't break off, unless you intend to do that or your just battling it. ( I saw an N73 get thrown off a three story building without breaking externally, including the joystick, the keypad, and the mechanical shutter.)
Now to the Multimedia features.
They are absolutely amazing, and the 3.2 megapixel camera is the N73's landmark. The photos are bright, clear, vivid, and sharp. The pictures taken by the N73 look better than the 6 megapixel camera that I have! The mechanical shutter for protection of the camera is also a nice and stylish feature. So if you're into photography and you don't want to spend too much, this is a great phone for you.
Also, the radia and Music player are great features. Everyone is saying that the Music players on the Music Edition and regular edition are different. That may be true for devices sold in the US or Europe, but I bought mine from Asia, and the regular N73 was upgraded to have all the "special" features of the Music Edition. So yes, I could control the skip, pause, play buttons with one touch of the joystick. And the music player has album art, and visualizations. The sound is great, and i like the stylish look of the stereo speakers.
I've had my phone for a month now, and I haven't experienced any problem with the phone, including what many say a complete shut down of the phone, by itself.
The themes are great, and you can download addtional themes from the internet and personalize your device in any way you want, but becareful, a lot of downloadable applictions are not licesnsed meaning that they are not to be trusted. So maybe that is what causes the problems in the software. Be careful! I don't have any addtional applictions on my phone, except some that are actually licensed by Nokia.
I have to get to the most important part which is the amazing battery life on this phone! It exceeds the N95, probably the most famous Nseries phone ever. My phone doesn't experience heavy usage, basically because I have an ipod for music which is the main thing. But, I do text a lot, and occasional calls. The battery would last 5 days with me, I charge is on Monday night, and then it goes on till Saturday night. You can adjust the settings of screen brightness and power saver, so that you can conserve battery life.
Basically that's the Nokia N73 for you, and it's a great phone for people who don't want to use it as their second computer 24/7.

Summary: I've used a RIM 7100t and HTC mDA, which are pretty different devices from this. 1 is a blackberry and the other is a windows mobile device. I used the 7100t for about a year, it was decent enough but the reception wasn't good, and the web browser was a waste of time.
The mDA was nice, but died after 5 months, I got a new one via insurance and gave it to a friend. I've had the n73 for just about 2 weeks so far and have no major gripes with it. Yes there are times that loading apps is slow, but I dont spend alot of time loading apps so it's not that big a deal. Sometimes the phone lags when switching on the camera, or moving to view photos. It's not really a reason not to buy this phone, but probably the biggest drawback I've encountered so far.
Sync was easy, controls are solid and I rarely find myself hitting buttons I dont intend to. The keys are small, and I have big hands but texting isnt an issue. If you're doing long text emails either get a bluetooth keyboard or go look at the e70.
The camera is great. My wife just had our firstborn so i've been snapping pics like crazy and taking video to watch when I travel away from home.
Since we have no 3g here in the states yet, all I can compare the service w/ is my T-Mobile. Edge seems to run fast enough on it and I've had nothing but good experiences w/ webpage loading etc. Oh btw, I love the web browser its really clean and fast. It loads quickly and allows you to scan the entire page quickly for the information you need.
World clock is a nice touch, organizer is pretty basic but has everything you need to stay...well...organized
Only other phone I'd look at is n80, which is crap for battery life but is a monster of a handheld. This is a great PHONE, with excellent features. Its nice in my hand as far as size and comfort.

Updated
I made a mistake of thinking that downloading and installing the firmware update for my n73 would be simple and harmless. Turns out I was wrong, my phone crashed and now wont boot. It's Sunday and nokia isnt open but I have a few friends in finland who work for nokia and just laughed when I asked them about this saying that new version phones always seem to have these kind of problems.
I just wanted to make this information available here so anyone using this device will know that this is in fact a known problem.

The fantastic camera and the good old yet sublime Symbian OS,makes it a winner among smartphones with cameras. One of the other great features is the screen quality and indeed size.
Finally you can surf the web (it's 3G capable!) without shrinking your eyes.
Pricey but well worth the hype! If you have the chance to try one, do it, but leave your credit card at home!

Pros: Ease of use (for a smartphone), excellent camera with stellar image quality, robust media player, tight Outlook integration.
Cons: Uses RealPlayer out-of-box for video, S60 v9.1 signature issues, slight delay on launch of some applications. No 3G in the US, if you're into that sort of thing. No SDHC support.
Summary: I got this to replace a LG Shine, which was defective.

Summary: I got this to replace a LG Shine, which was defective.
Nokia's build quality is apparent. It feels solid.
Call quality, while a bit hollow, is good. I have no problems hearing or being heard. They keyboard is small but very usable. The joystick feels out of place. MMS and Web browsing autuconfigured the first time I used the phone.
This is my first 'smartphone', and I'm pleased to say I love Symbian S60.
Opening the camera slide (why don't more phones have this!) when the keys are locked still opens the camera, and locks them back up when it's closed.
The media player is easy to navigate and use, and the radio even works well. Multitasking is a breeze.
Battery life for my usage, which is fairly light, is about three days. It's much better than some other smartphones.
One thing the Shine couldn't do (because AT&T disabled it) was sync to Outlook. This phone does it wonderfully. Everything works like it should, and Nokia PC Suite is very good.
Any N73 users that have problems: Update your firmware! Many bugs have been fixed.
