    "Only Nice on the outside"

    by Outsider1112 on January 24, 2006

    Pros: Look & Feel

    Cons: Interface, Lags.

Summary: Unfortunetly I have to put in the first negative words on this phone...

It lags tremendously...I'm talking about you would think your using a dial up computer. The interface is the same wack motorlla interface they've had for the last X years.

Mine just stoped working. The screen actually doesn't turn on on the outsider or inside. It had happend to me before but i would pop the battery out and put it back in and it would work. This time it just gave up. 27 days and this phone broke. 300 for 27 days doesn't add up. If you want a phone for the way it looks get this phone but its not a good performer. It also scratches easily contrary to popular belief.

You said the URL is slow and it seems like your using a dial up computer , well guess what, you are LOL. Wether it's a PEBL or a $850.00 XDA Stealth the connection speed is about the same. Many people spend a lot of money skipping from phone to phone and just wind up broke and frustrated where this issue is concerned. You also said in your opinion the phone scratches easially. That valcunite rubberized coating on the PEBL is pretty sturdy, NEXTEL has been using it on their phones since the late 1990's , so if your phone scratched I can only guess that your phone was dropped off a building or kicked across a parking lot LOL. A cell phone is a delecate insturment and should be treated as such. I've seen people ( especially teenagers ) really beat up and miss handle the hell out of their phones and then complain when they quit on them. You don't carry a cell phone in your pocket or purse next to a huge cluster of keys , you dont toss your phone in the glove compartment with all the other junk and have it bounce around every time you turn a corner , you don't stand there in the pouring rain having a conversation exposing your phone to moisture. I carried a Nokia 6600 since 2003 and it looks the same as the day I took it out of the box.

I disagree wholeheartedly. I have this phone and I love it. The voice quality (on both ends) is awesome, the hardware looks great and works wonderfully. It is a very sturdy phone - much unlike a lot of the newer phones that feel as though they are about to break in your hand. I must say it is not necessarily scaled for people with larger hands. (I am 5'2" and have no problem using it, but my 6'2" linebacker-like boyfriend finds the buttons a bit small for his use). The menus are much like the Razr, which for some people can leave a little to be desired - sometimes it seems you have to navigate through an awful lot of menus before reaching what you are looking for. The camera quality is better than many other camera phones I have seen, though - of course- not as good as a real digital camera. Having both the razr and the pebl, I STRONGLY prefer the pebl as an all-around better piece of technology.

Sounds to me like you got a lemon. Everybody makes a dud once in a while.

When I first got this phone, I loved it. It is PRETTY, but about 17 days later (two after my trial period ended!) I reallized how buggy the software is. From inability to view details of the entries in my directory to intermittently having a dead screen or dead phone, to very slow browsing, to "false" low-battery warnings (low bat. warning right after a full charge but lasting a very long talk-time without recharging), etc., etc....

I could not replace the phone but TMobile gracefully offered to trobleshoot the software for me... practially making me a beta tester. That's not what I paid for.

I have had the same lagging problem. I got my phone the very first day tmobile started selling it, and it was great for about a month. Then it started lagging. I've had it for several months and it is only getting worse. I have to pull the battery out, let the phone sit for an hour or so, put it back in and then it gets where i can put a phone number in. I have to repeat this process several times a week, if not on a daily basis. The other night it started lagging as i put my charger in so it didn't recognize that it was to be charged so it didn't charge. The phone looks cool, but its a better paper weight.

My phone just started to act up. About the 10th day i had it. When i would be txting it would just restart it self. Now today it stopped ringing. I think i am going to go exchange it for a SDA..

I must say that the phone does not have the best interface possible but it does not lag in tremendous amounts. It has a few glitches including the smart key that sometimes does not engage properly but that is about it. One should not overly criticize because of the beautiful exterior and its ease of use. Also those commenting on the phone should have at least have had it for a month or so, that way that actually know what they are talking about.

I had my first mobile phone in 1992, it was a Motorola. 70% of the mobile phones has been Motorola, never had a problem. I had recently a V300, then V555 and now this pretty little one. I don't need a great quelity camera, I just need a full quality device, and I found it at the Pebl. Navigation is pretty simple and logic. Also, I'm using the same software of the V300, got an update online and with Sony digital camera USB cable I have everything I need to make a sync.

Your bad review is the most trusted one I have seen on Cnet so far. I have seen some of these idiots on here that write these grade school quality reviews that kills me. Your review I would definitly trust and to stay away from the Pebl U6. I had just gotten the Razr V3 T-Mobile version and I love it. I would give mine a 10.
