"Just purchased KRZR K1M"
Pros: Looks great
Cons: Cable and Software for MP3 xfer NOT included
Summary: I just purchased a KRZR K1M. One of the main reasons I purchase this phone was for the MP3 player feature. I was surprised that it didn¡¦t come with the cable and software to download music.
If you want to download music from your computer you will need a cable & software. If you have a digital camera you probably already have the cable. It¡¦s a USB to mini USB. It can be purchased on www.hellomoto.com . You will also need software called Phone Tools, also available on the hellomoto website. It is about $40 and does much more than download music. If you download a lot of music you will also need to purchase a MICRO SD memory card. (Not a MINI)
It also doesn¡¦t come with a belt clip. You can purchase gloves, leather sleeves, etc. I purchased the standard black plastic one. It looks fine and the phone can rotate so it can be worn horizontal. The holder is designed to hold the phone face down. I guess this is to protect the face. At first I thought this was weird but as soon as I started using it, it made perfect sense. When you pull the phone out of the holder it¡¦s instantly ready to flip open. If you do put it in the holder face up, the holder will push the button on the side of the phone and the MP3 player will start. That took me awhile to figure out. ’º
I love the way this phone looks and feels, and will update this if I find any flaws.Updated
I have to retract some of my original misconceptions. You do not need the Phone Tools Software to copy MP3 from your computer to the optional memory card in your phone. If you want to put MP3 in your phone internal memory you would. You dont even need the USB to Mini USB cable but its a lot easier. If you dont use a cable you would need a card reader and have to take the memory card out of your phone to copy files.
Things I learned so far: KRZR (Tech Support (800) 972-1837)
Make phone default connection USB: On phone open Settings, pick Connection, pick USB Setting, and pick USB Drive
Make the Memory Card the Storage Device: On phone open Media Gallery, pick Sounds, pick Options, and pick Switch Storage Device, select Memory Card
Now you are set to copy files to your memory card. Connect phone to computer with a USB to Mini USB cable. On computer pick Start, pick My Computer. Your phone will be a Removable Disk. Double Click the Removable Disk. (you may need to format if first time) Just open your music folder and drag music onto the disk. NOTE the files must be MP3 AND they can not be in folders! Before you unplug the cable make sure you pick the Safely Remove Hardware icon at the bottom of you computer screen and select the drive.
I still like my KRZR! My main complaint is that you cant delete the MP3 sound bites that came with the phone (ring tones) When you are listening to all your songs, they play in the mix. I found a way around that HORRIBLE problem. You can listen to one album at a time or just create Playlists in the Media Gallery. You can select what music you want in each Playlist you create.
