"Good for work, bad for personal use."
Pros: Rugged and durable. Direct connect.
Cons: Poor/muffled sound quality when using the phone.
Summary: My employer utilizes Nextel and the i530 (among other Motorola models,) which is pretty basic, but for the rugged environment that we work in, it is perfect. It is a very durable cell phone.
The direct connect feature is nice, what we primarily use the phone for, but nothing that I would want for personal and family use. (Must be because of the ability to "alert" and que people.)
I don't think it is the cell phone, but more or less the quality of "national" service that Nextel provides, but there are areas that I have no service at all. I also have friends and colleagues that decided to try Nextel for their own personal use, with the more expensive models, but have since switched carriers because of the unsatisfactory service (number of dropped calls and dead zones) they received.
